Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project

Clinet: GEOCE Consultant, Nepal/GON/ JICA

Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project is the first road tunnel construction project in Nepal being implemented with Japanese loan assistance. The project aims to improve the road condition around Nagdhunga pass, ensuring a smooth transportation network between Kathmandu and other principal areas/cities in Nepal, contributing to local socioeconomic development. The total length of the tunnel is 2.69 km. The construction of the tunnel is likely to affect the spring water sources and groundwater wells around the tunnel alignment vicinity. A water sources mapping was carried out during the detailed design phase of the project. To assess the level of impact in the groundwater and spring sources, groundwater level monitoring was included under the scope of work of the Consultant.

The scope of work of this survey is to update the existing sources of the springs and groundwater well in the vicinity of the tunnel alignment and carry out the discharge measurement of the springs and record water levels of the groundwater wells located in the vicinity of the tunnel alignment.
